Give a PAW” to a pup in need!

“Paw It Forward”

“Paw It Forward” is a program that allows Dog owners to anonymously donate their extra, unwanted and mildly used dog’s stuff to other not so privileged dogs.  In return the “Paw It Forward” volunteers will ask the recipients to write a thank you note from their dogs to the donator.

The vision is for the many dog based businesses such as vets, groomers, trainers, boarding, walkers, pet artists and those that are in contact with both the “haves” and “have not’s”, to act on behalf of “Paw It Forward” as both the collectors and the finders of those in need.  If there are many of the same items, they may be donated to rescue shelters or special emergency situations such as Hurricane Katrina.

For instance, one person donated an electric collar that she would have otherwise thrown out.  That e-collar went through a dog trainer to a dog that has shown aggression to the woman who rescued her from the pound and her twelve year old daughter.  The e-collar will hopefully help in the keeping of the dog.

Another family donated about $1000 worth of dog beds, food, feed and water bowls, crates, clothing and other items that have so far helped at least 4 family dogs be more comfortable and have a better life.

As it happens, so far everyone that has received from Paw It Forward has also donated something they felt could be more appreciated by someone else.

Who hasn’t bought a dog bed, toy or even food that our dogs have rejected?  There are many dogs out there whose owners just can’t afford to buy the extras; some can’t afford the special unexpected needs of their dogs.
